Symphony of Collaboration

May 2024 | FULL Newsletter

At Design With Skill, our team works together from afar to create impactful architecture. The distance between us fosters innovation and creates unique design opportunities. Find out how we take advantage of the thousand of miles that separate us to connect us as creatives and orchestrate the design our projects.

Team Harmony

This edition of our newsletter is focused on team harmony.  Our melody of masters come from diverse locations, from Analia's peaceful and creative hub in Montevideo, Uruguay to the bustling streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Martin and Cindy reside, to Samantha's base in sunny CaliforniaUnited States.  We span the globe, bringing a rich tapestry of perspectives to our work. It's fitting we introduce our group using music metaphors, as it’s a common interest.  Martin rocks the guitar in his band for fun and Analia jams on the weekends acoustic style.  Samantha teaches her sons piano and saxophone, while Cindy learns how to play the Ukelele.

Above is a snapshot of our team in action during our weekly meeting.  Our virtual backgrounds showcase our favorite architecture masterpieces - a visual testament to the diverse inspirations that drive us forward in our collaboration.

The Right Rhythm

The key to our success is in our noteworthy rhythm.  Together we work hard to compose the Design With Skill ballad.

  1. Toot Our Own Horns: Our team members are the first to let us know when they have a talent that would help us bring a project to life. We encourage everyone to put themselves forward and to do what they do best week after week.

  2. Playing Second Fiddle: Not everyone likes to lead... and that's okay! There are moments in which we feel our best by supporting others and letting them shine.

  3. All the Bells and Whistles: Being from different cultures, we all bring to the table a different component that makes part of our perfect symphony! Each of us feels unique and indispensable to our team.

  4. March to the Beat of my Own Drum: We all have the same goal in mind: which is innovating in our designs and bringing them to life. That being said, we all have different ways of achieving it, and this creates a rich environment for ideas to flow.

  5. Strike the Right Note: Communicating is what ensures that we have the same goal in mind and that we find the best solution to problems that might appear along the way.

  6. Pitch Perfect: Diversity within the team is what makes our designs so unique. This is why we don't try to be all the same; we make sure we give room for everyone to have their perfect voice.

  7. Play it By Ear: We try to trust our gut and provide solutions that make sense to us.

  8. It's Not My Forte: There is always a helping hand around, and we are never afraid to ask for help! If there is a team, there is a way.

  9. Like a Broken Record: The phrase you'll hear more at our meetings is "Let me know if I can help." To us, you can't say this enough times.

  10. All That Jazz: We love seeing teamwork, feedback, collaboration, and all that jazz within the team.

  11. Don't Harp On It: We don't harp on our team members' designs; we trust all of the team to do their work, and the finalized vision always exceeds all expectations.

  12. Strike a Chord: Finalized designs always strike a chord with the whole team, especially when we present them to the clients.

  13. Change Your Tune: If there is one thing we all have in common - We all accept feedback in a really good way! We feel good about having our colleagues' input on our designs.

  14. Music to My Ears: Nothing feels better to us than listening to one of our architects walk us through one of their designs.

  15. Pull Out All the Stops: We will go all the way to bring our visions to life.
